I am trying to review the available pharmacological options for management of soft esophageal bolus impaction to avoid patients undergoing endoscopy/surgery unnecessarily but have found studies by Basavaraj et al (2005) and Anderson & Lee (2007) were inconclusive as to the benefits of IV buscopan. I want to develop a protocol for treatment of these patients but am struggling to find any valid research.
