Hello everyone. I am currently working on wheat straw ash as a supplementary cementitious material. I obtained wheat straw ash by burning wheat straw at 650 degree Celsius. XRD results showing peaks for KCl (Potassium chloride). Is there any efficient method to remove chlorine from the ash?
I will be grateful if someone help me in this regard.
Interesting. Potassium chloride peaks were observed, is it because of , it was used a K-source , since in straw ash, KCl comes out as a natural combination. Addition of lime or dolomite could shift the choice of chloride ....
KCl salt is water soluble. All what you have to do is to add distilled water to the ash and KCl will dissolve in the water. You can then filtrate the this mixture to separate water containing KCl from the ash.

Thank you very much Professor Yehia and Anoop Kumar for your valuable suggestions. Prof. Yehia, I studied some research papers, they used the same method you mentioned for removal of chlorides, but the removal rate was indicated 50-70% and also it varied with temperature of water.
