Is there any disadvantage to using a overly nutrient rich culture medium?

Good-day

I know that overly rich culture media can cause microorganisms to become less responsive ( https://www.nature.com/articles/ismej2017195 ), but can they completely inhibit the growth of a particular microorganism?
