I need to study some characteristics of fertile chicken eggshell without the egg contents. I was thinking using table (infertile eggs) will be cost effective for me since Im not interested in the egg contents anyway. But I wish to be sure whether there is a difference in fertile eggshell and infertile eggshell. Does anybody know whether the properties of fertile shells will likely be the same with infertile shell when the egg content is not our consideration?
Table eggs are produced by hens selected to produce good quality eggs for probably over 50 generations. Eggs for producing day old chick are generally produced by broiler breeders selected for over 50 generations to produce good quality offspring, that grows rapidly and healthy etc etc. Thus you can not be sure that these differences in selection criteria, may not have influenced the things you are going to study in the eggshell. One possible solution might be to contact a breeder and ask for the eggs too small or too large to be incubated. These might be not so expensive.

Actually the genetic makeup of layers differ from broiler breeder or layer breeder. if you have an objective to assess the effect of the shell quality on offspring or hatching or related topics fertile eggs will be good choice. If you focused on the consumer need and egg transportation table egg will be a good choice. It depend on your objectives

That is depend on your aim of your study , what the question you need to answer ?
In case of table egg production , your interest with egg shell focus to prevent broken eggs during production and marketing , while in case of eggs for hatchery , you need to provide the requirements of embryos of Ca , P and gas exchange , beside no cracked eggshell to prevent lose of water and other bad effects .
