I am doing reasearch on the relationship between autophagy and apoptosis, a compound is important in this research in my view. However it is not easy to find a compound that meet the requirement.
Please note, autophagic response may be defined by the tumors’ own metabolic alterations or culture/environmental features (i.e., glucose availability). So , whats the cell line you are working on?
for example>>
For leukemia cell lines such as , Human ALL CEM cells, Metformin is your compound! No Autophagy, only Apoptosis.
Completing the answer of Swarnendra Singh I must add sulforaphane to the list.
See: Carcinogenesis (2007) 28 (1): 151-162.
About metformin I should also add that it is an AMPK activator which in turn inhibits mTOR. The inhibition of mTOR usually produces autophagy. I have no experience with Human ALL CEM cells, but on a purely theoretical ground, metformin should induce autophagy.
