Situational interest is just that, situational. So having a pre-developed scale for your context would be difficult. It is typically tied to transient features of the context the learner is currently in - so you may be able to find one on the "bells and whistles" of a multimedia kiosk, but in all likelihood it would not be in your content domain. The articles that are cited above are right on point for learning about situational interest. You may also be interested in some work by DeJong and also by Kinstch.  Good luck!

I agree with Kimberley. But the instruments mentioned above could help if they are adapted to your specific situation. In addition to that, they have been tested and have proven their effectiveness.

From my present point of view I would suggest an instrument which distinguishes between two levels of situational interest (triggered and maintained situational interest or catch and hold comoponent) and covers dimensions like emotion, cognition and value.
