All electronics companies are using this strategy for planned obsolescence. Do we really need newer products too often ? It is sheer wastage of scarce resources by abandoning products still serviceable for few more years, like computers mobiles cars . Not only economic wastage but it is matter of ethics. Forcing consumers to go for newer products. Most electronic items maker no more support products after 3 years. Why ?

For the second decade I have been revealing a similar topic at lectures for students, teaching them business planning. As a negative example, I cite the facts of SAMSUNG's inefficient management of the after-sales service system as one of the main factors of competitiveness, apparently due to the obsolescence of data on the proper maintenance of goods purchased from them several years ago. This leads, for example, to significant delays in the release of new drivers for previously released office equipment, the decommissioning of consumables, such as accumulator batteries, for devices recently discontinued. As a result, against the background of a comparative increase in prices for new products and a reduction in the separation in quality from competitors, SAMSUNG was expected to come to a crisis in consumer demand due to a decrease in the level of competitiveness. Perhaps you will be able to understand the dynamics of this process over the past 20-25 years.
