Are there any benefits if a topical cream was used with phonophoresis for any local infection or DFU- is there any added benefit that topical cream application alone? Is there any role for NSAIDs gels with the use of phonophoresis in having a better pain score outcome?
It is used of ultrasound to enhance the delivery of topically applied drugs.
Ultrasound wave enhance the drug penetration and so absorbtion of drug at site of action.
Topical infection however not stay only at topical surface only but some deeper layer of skin too.
So it enhance the drugs to reach up to that level too.

In case of pus collection the use of phonophoresis is not effective at all. Such cases need surgical treatment.

Dear Asaimonat- good day to you. I was asking more for diabetic foot ulcers. Instead of just applying topical antimicrobials and oral antibiotics, is there a better outcome with phonophoresis with an antimicrobial gel, topical antimicrobial and oral antibiotics compared to without phonophoresis? Thank you
