I think, the wood have a capability of absorbing light waves due to the presence of molecules present in the wood and trees are also able to absorb some light waves.so,it reduce the light pollution.
Better reduce the light level and direct the light where it is needed, i.e. don't illuminate the edges.
Light pollution is known to alter cross-ecosystem fluxes, it can affect phenology of plants by promoting growth, causing earlier budburst, changing the timing of flowering, delaying onset of leaf coloring and prolonging leaf fall. This in turn can have several indirect effects on invertebrates and other animals (see e.g. Grubisic et al. 2018. Annals of Applied Biology, 173, 180-189).
