I need to know if there's any antibiotic that can substitute the use of hygromycin B for selection , without replacing the hygromycin resistance gene in the plasmid construct.
If you want to do a selection of transformants based on the hygromycin resistance gene, Hygromycin B is probably the only option you have. Other antibiotics like phleomycin would require to exchange the hygromycin resistance cassette on your plasmids.
I did a yeast research long time ago and not doig these days. You can try Google-search for selection marker for industrial yeast . Also there is a company selling plamid for that selection. I do not remeber the company name.
