I am doing simulation exercise of which I have to inject fluid pressure into a borehole. The parameters I am using the injection rate is given in pressure (MPa) and the software accept injection rate in m3/sec. How do I relate these two in other to obtain equivalent value from one to the other?
The injection rate (Q in m3/s) is equal to the velocity of the injection (V in m/s) multiplied by the section (A in m2) of the end of the divice of the injection. If this device has not enough friction pressure drop, for example a nozzle with low roughness, you can relate the injection pressure (P changed from MPa to kg/m2) with the specific volume (ve in m3/kg) of the fluid and the injection velocity with this known equation deduced applying the Bernoulli theorem:
Q = A[2x9.81Pve]0.5
This is the relation between the injection pressure and the flow rate.
