For my thesis, I need to administer a questionnaire to parents of children diagnosed with a learning disability, in order to measure their level of acceptance of the diagnosis.
this is not precisely what you ask but the acceptance can be seen from the parents answer concerning their understandimg of their child language.
Also, you can use the model of the five stages of grief, or the Kübler-Ross model, those experiencing sudden grief following an abrupt realization (shock) go through five emotions: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. These stages could help you do create a questionnaiire/interview on acceptance. My experience with the parents behavior concerning their deaf children confirms the truth of these stages. However some of them got stack on one stage or another, never reaching the acceptance.
Justine Asmar with pleasure. As for a questionnaire, I believe you would not get honest answers from parents. Better an interview- during which you might notice some specific mimicry, gestures, etc and sure, the answers will be more emotional. Wish you success!
There's a questionnaire called the RDQ, it measures how parents deal with their child's learning disability diagnosis. It's based on the RDI interview and has 42 questions. It's been tested with Israeli moms of kids with CP or DD, but more research is needed for other groups. Hope that helps! Check this out: https://doi.org/10.1037/t82271-000
