Not all ultrasound scanners have the 3D option, we have to reconstruct the 3D mentally. And it would be nice to have such an opportunity, like at CT.

if you have all the sequence you can use open source software for DICOM data (e.g. the Brazilian software Invesalius, the one I use often for this kind of operation).
On our blog ATOR (Arc-Team Open Research), there is a presentation about Archaeological Forensic Facial Reconstruction, in which we used this kind of technique (arc-team-open-research.blogspot.com/2014/12/forensic-facial-reconstruction-state-of.html) with some reverse engineering operations we performed to validate our facial reconstruction technique.
Unfortunately the presentation in in Italian (but on our bog there is an English explanation). I know about but most of such software are not open and free, mostly they goes from the manufacturers of ultrasound scanners and cost a lot.
I did not build a 3D model of the anomaly of caudal aorta with an Invesalius, but a coronary slice of suspected mammary gland cancer, it's something. And I think it will be easy to write a class on java with 3D array to do this in more easy way.
