Hello! I'm looking for an antibody against aquaporine 4 for running western blot in brain samples (cortex and hippocampus) of mice. Would you have a good reference (with/without a protocol) to recommend? Can I use actine as loading control for this protein? Thank you very much!
I have used a monoclonal AQP4 antibody from Merck Millipore with good results. I use it at a concentration of 1 in 3000. My samples were whole brain or spinal cord lysates. I think the Merck Millipore website has some references for the antibody listed on their website. For protocol and buffers, I used the NUPAGE guide from Invitrogen/Life Technologies.
Hi Claretta Sonia D'Souza! Thanks for your answer! I just had a look on Merck Millipore Website and could only find polyclonal antibodies for AQP 4. It might be because I'm in Europe (I know some antibodies are available depending on the continent). Would you have the reference of this antibody ?

We have an Aquaporin 4 Antibody (SPC-505D) that has been tested for use in Western Blot with mouse tissue. It is a good antibody that we've had great feedback for, however as it is a fairly new product, it doesn't have any citations yet. Here's the link to the product:

I strongly suggest you the antibody from SantaCruz (http://www.scbt.com/datasheet-9888-aqp4-c-19-antibody.html). It perfectly works in both WB and IF, you can find the protocol in one of my papers.

My apologies Julie, the antibody from Millipore is a polyclonal. However, my lab has also used the monoclonal from AbD Serotec.
