Hi, I am looking for a web database to download the habitats inhabited by a list of plant species distributed across the world. I have visited the IUCN and International Vegetation Classification databases, but they seem very incomplete. The goal is to collect the various habitats ('habitat' as specific as possible, e.g distinguishing calcareous grasslands from other grasslands) inhabited by a list of plant species. Thanks!
You might try http://plants.usda.gov/. It's US focused, but includes non-natives in the US, which might cover a fair amount of your list, depending on the list.

GBIF gives distributions of 1.6M plant species worldwide, and you can get districbution maps off it for each species. Some of thee records have habitat info but you need to check a selection of each to get that so may not be ideal for you

e-monocot does something similar, though only for monocots, and this one does summarise habitat info for each species

I checked the databases I didn't already know (such as TRY, a very nice trait database), and I especially liked e-monocot.org. Too bad a similar system is not available for dicots.
