I want to conduct one experiment on Habitat management using a push-pull strategy. This involves intercropping maize with a “push” plant, such as Desmodium, that repels FAW from the field, and planting a crop along the field boundary (e.g. Napier grass or Brachiaria spp) that attracts or “pulls” the FAW away from the maize. So i want to know the where i will get the Desmodium and Napier grass seeds.
Napier grass also called elephant grass is usually propagated by stem cutting in way like the crop sugarcane is propagated.
The International agricultural center CIAT has a tropical pasture program and they probably have smallamounts of seed which can be used for experimentation.
Contact them and rely your experimental interest and your ability to inform them of your results and cite them for the source material in any publication.
CIAT may also have the seeds of Bracharia you have interest in.
For the vegetative propagation of Napier grass cut the stem segments to have 2 nodes cure the cutting 2 days to harden it. Place the cuttings in a trench and cover with 10 cm of soil in a moist season with long days does the best
