I am conducting a methodological systematic review with will include both partial and full economic evaluations involving a certain treatment.
A number of checklists have been developed to guide the methodological quality assessment of economic evaluation studies, mostly full economic evaluation studies. For partial economic evaluations, I only found guidance to critically assess cost of illness studies and budget impact analysis. Do you know any tool, checklist or guideline to assess the methodological quality of cost analysis studies (comparing only the costs of two alternatives)?

Apparently, The checklist was created to help guide the critique of economic evaluations and takes into account: 1) the research question; 2) the description of the study/intervention; 3) the study design; 4) the identification, 5) measurement, and 6) valuation of costs and consequences; and 7) whether discounting was used.

I´ve checked the paper you cited and, apparently, they used the Drummond checklist, which is one of the tools developed to assess full economic evaluation studies (that is, cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, and cost-benefit analysis). My focus is on cost analysis studies (partial economic evaluations) which don´t consider the health consequences and compared only the costs of the alternatives.

The JBI tool was also based on Drummond checklist (suitable for full economic evaluation studies), however, it is a simplified version compared to the original work. =)

To the best of my knowledge there is no checklist for this purpose. I would use a cost-of-illness checklist, which may best approach your purpose.
