A high resolution bathymetry would be usable to identify canyons in that area and to approximate the slope of the continental shelf.

The Gebco has been recently updated. I konow that this update is relatively limited along the african coasts. Morroco and Mauritania have benefited from Olex data.
When no sounding is available Gebco is completed by sattelite altimetry such as ETOPO1. Hence, I believe that for a morphological study of relatively big feature you can rely on GEBCO.
