Too many times we have been asked about the impact of our research. Alongside this, we are asked about the cutting edge of our research. This is common, at least in the UK, when you aspire to a professorship. In reality, what do these mean? Could these really be objectively measured, particularly in the Human Sciences? More importantly, where does this place the dying principle of education as an end rather than an instrument?
