I noticed that frozen normal tissues very often have much lower RIN values (from bioanalyzer) while matched tumor tissues still have pretty good RIN values. I suspect that it is because the tissues were stored in -80 instead of liquid nitrogen. I tried to Google but found no such research article. Would you please share some of your experiences? I am curious about this.

If the tissues were snap frozen in LN2 prior to storage at -80C , I don't think there should be any degradation or loss of RNA integrity. Also, ideally there shouldn't be any difference between normal and tumor tissue if above method is followed.
have you considered that tumore tissue might simply be denser in cells than the surrounding stroma ? or corresponding normal tissue sites?, there is a lot of cell division and transcription going on , just an idea....
