** lack of bigger than life personalities with a charming narrative to promote the aim

** disbelief about the prospects/inefficient popularization or why it is not just a fancy project of academic sounding provisions

The key findings and messages of the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2022, available at https://unstats.un.org/sdgs/report/2022/, are that:

• The COVID-19 pandemic wiped out more than four years of progress on poverty eradication and pushed 93 million more people into extreme poverty in 2020.
• Disrupted essential health services resulted in a drop in immunization coverage for the first time in a decade and a rise in deaths from tuberculosis and malaria.
• More than 24 million learners- from pre-primary to university level- are at risk of never returning to school.
• One quarter of the global population are now living in conflict-affected countries. A record 100 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide. The war in Ukraine is creating one of the largest refugee crises of modern time.
• To stave off the worst climate-related impacts, global greenhouse gas emissions will need to peak before 2025 and then decline by 43 per cent by 2030. Current national commitments point to a nearly 14 per cent increase by 2030 and greater ambitions are needed to meet the 1.5 °C target.
• Developing countries are battling record inflation, rising interest rates and looming debt burdens and many are struggling unsuccessfully to recover from the pandemic.
• Investment in data and information infrastructure should be a priority of national governments and the international community.

If we imagine society as airplanes, and SDGs as airport destinations, then some of the runways will be too short for some planes, or the altitude is too high, or the planes are going too fast. For a variety of reasons, some of these destinations will not be available to all planes.

I would suggest that 'Sustainable Development' would change the way we operate those planes, but it doesn't change the underlying nature of the aircraft - some of those airports will be inaccessible unless we allow the planes to change intentionally.

As long as the system manager (economists and politicians, for example) is in charge, we wont be trying to make design decisions that would allow us to reach those hard-to-go places. Every time they say "We can't do that (like 'Can't use a 0 discount rate', or 'Can't eliminate poverty')" they are illustrating that the design is flawed, and they need to call in a design engineer instead.

I think that the implementation of the SDGs is still far from reaching the desired level of success. Despite the commitment to the SDGs from many countries around the world, there are numerous challenges that impede their effective implementation. These include a lack of political commitment, inadequate financing, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of awareness and capacity building. Additionally, the goals are too ambitious and lack sufficient monitoring and review mechanisms to ensure their successful implementation. For example, some countries have achieved impressive improvement in certain areas, such as poverty reduction, but have failed to make the same progress in others, such as reducing inequality. In order to ensure the effective implementation of the SDGs, countries must continue to strengthen their commitment to the goals, provide sufficient financing and resources, increase capacity building, and develop better monitoring and review mechanisms.

We do not dig deep enough. The answers are superficial. Human culture in general is violent towards society and nature. Existing rules of our economic game are flawed. As long as we stick to the money and capitalization as the measuring rods of our "success" and "productivity" in privately closed entities, no satisfactory result can be expected. Let us try to understand the deep meaning of the global interdependence and the common good.

Sustainability Development discussions are increasingly becoming the hot topic these days, having said that also it becomes more obvious that innovations with a vision is the key for their success. Sustainability research works needs to focus on social fabric , rural and industrial landscape equally. Bringing in an equilibrium among these pillars of a sustainable economy reflects the success of a long drawn economic progressions.
