I am using the Hu-Washizu principle in my master thesis, to remedy locking phenomenas in solid-shell elements with EAS and ANS methods. Many articles who have done the same, refer to Hu-Washizu principle as a three field variational formulation. However, in this article (see link), it is proven that the Hu-Washizu principle is only two field (and is equvilant to the Hellinger Reissner principle). Can someone make this clearer to me, is it two field or three field?
