I would like to test capture EGG of users while they are using a sound interface, so I would like to know if EMOTIV with 5 Channel is enough or I need to think buying EMOTIV with 14 Channel or other headset
For some studies, all of the relevant information can be obtained from five to six electrodes. From the literature, it is advisable to record data using between 16 and 32 electrodes. In your case, you could use the device with14 electrodes.
NB: Regardless of the electrodes number, always you need to consider obtaining high data quality.
If you are going for the output from their proprietary software, I would say NO.
And I completely agree with Sameer Sarsam. Raw data and analysis of raw data tailor made for your study would be far more concrete than readings from their proprietary algorithm.
The more channel the better fidelity of your data.
I am not an expert in EEG but have spoken at length with those who are. In general, using EEG outside a dedicated laboratory is fraught with difficulty because interpreting the data becomes difficult (e.g. how do you separate out the effects you observe as being a specific brain response rather than due to head or neck muscle movement?). Perhaps it would be useful to think about who you might collaborate with who has this expertise - capturing good data to inform the UX experience in this way could be fantastic!
