My laboratory is currently seeking funding and financing and the opportunity has arisen to acquire a device for determining food composition (DA 7250 NIR Analyzer).
I would like to hear the opinion of food science peers to verify whether the results obtained from this technology are reliable and do not require the use of traditional techniques (e.g., protein determination using the Kjeldahl method).

What will be the purpose of your check? Requirements for legal purposes will differ from those for internal quality or composition checks!
Another question: will you only deal with known materials with many existing reference data or will many samples be of unknown composition.
Thus specify for yourself what type of information will be your aim.

NIR technology is useful to determine the proximate composition of food/feed.
However, the method has lower performance than a chemical analysis method and is highly dependent on the algorithm and even more on the robustness of the dataset on which the calculation is based.
