This question emerges from Benjamin Constant's judgment on the Huns as a people mainly interested in warfare. A student challenged the judgment as founded only on stereotypes. It seems to me that the question can be extended. New archeological findings have in some cases confirmed what was until now considered as nationalistic slander (ie. the Romans' judgments on the carthaginian religion).
