I consider that the ABA is an appropriate method, its effectiveness will depend on the type of disability that the person has, as well as other factors such as age, sex, culture and geographical environment of the place where he / she lives and, above all, the application and practice of these customs on the part of the caretakers or people in charge.
In places where society generally exhibits distant and non-expressive socio-emotional behaviors, the results could be different in relation to societies with greater emotional development.
An important aspect that I have been observing for a long time is the behavioral differences expressed in the sports field at a competitive level in people who live at sea level whose emotional expressions are more evident than in people who live at higher altitudes whose emotions are not very expressive and distant; erhaps this attitude and socio-emotional characteristics of populations at higher altitudes can explain the low percentage and slow development of COVID 19 infections in Puno - Peru at 3,820 meters above sea level.
Applied behaviour analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behaviour change and not a method or procedure in and of itself. Therefore, any techniques derived from ABA may be beneficial for teaching and promoting any skills that require someone to do something different (e.g., washing hands, wearing masks, staying 6 feet apart etc.) due to COVID19. A lot of the research is with developmental disabilities (e.g.,Article An Evaluation of Behavioral Skills Training for Teaching Car...

I would consider strategies derived from ABA such as behavioural skills training (BST), chaining and backwards chaining and related ideas such as a task analysis.
Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is closely related to RTI (Response to Intervention), and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), which is used widely in schools now. Having worked as an ABA therapist, and now teaching students with emotional behavior disorders, I would say that yes, it is appropriate. ABA is used to modify unwanted behaviors and increase positive behaviors, it can also increase focus, attention, communication, and academics. If possible check-in with a center-based program where a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) would be able to design a learning program for your child.
