Is hydrogen peroxide use a reliable method to test qualitatively, the microbial abundance on a soil sample? Can anyone explain the chemistry of the process? What strains of aerobic bacteria are most likely to react with H2O2 when doing this simple test?

Thank you Carlos for sharing your publication (very good work!). However, although I learned that Rhizobia react to H2O2, I do not think that the information you shared answered my question. What chemistry goes on between aerobic bacteria and H2O2 beside observing a lot of bubbles being produced when hydrogen peroxide is added to the soil sample? Thanks! Can H2O2 be used in the field to evaluate reliably the presence of aerobic bacteria?
