People who are passionate about teaching will not hesitate to agree; those who are not, teaching for them is merely a means to earn a living and/or get prestige. Where do you stand?
Teaching is passion, however for various reasons I am in industry. Irrespective of it, I teach in the evening and l continue my research so to in line with my peer group in teaching.. some time it tires, but the love towards teaching drives.

I love to teach, but I didn't know that until a friend asked me to teach. I enjoyed industry work, too, but I thought now I learned a lot who else is going to benefit besides me?
Thus, for me, teaching complimented my industry experience and made me happier that I found a place to pass all that experience. I was very dedicated to my students and still do school displays/workshops after retirement.
Teaching is an art. There is a beauty in it. There are skills involve to master. If you can't appreciate the beauty of it, there's no way for you to enjoy doing it. It will be a misery. And the beauty does not primarily lie in monetary gain.
i will just make one small correction of your statement...instead of
"Is teaching a job for life"
"Teaching is life"....yes for I consider that it is a highly respectable profession and teachers come next only to god who created you and your parents who nurtured you...teacher is the person who makes you...your character.
Teaching like all professions should not be a job for life. However, all teachers get used to the classroom climate and the personal approach they use to handle the fantastic experience of teaching avid learners. The profession creates a daily mood influencing the decisive elements overshadowing the atmosphere in the class. As teachers, We possess a tremendous power to influence our pupils for the better or worse. We may potentially become a tool of demotivation or an instrument of inspiration. In all situations, we act as a bridge letting learners to cross and helping them to eventually build a bridge of their own. All this turns into a memorable experience, a kind of addiction which we cannot control. Nonetheless, when teachers get old and dilapidated, they should take a bow and leave the classroom stage providing room for younger and more energetic teachers to pursue the holy mission of contributing to the development of prospective learners' humanity and love for mankind.
Yes, for me teaching is my passion, hobby, and you will not agree with me but relaxation therapy.
Because I love teaching. It was my dream job when I was studying. So from young age I was keen to teach. So for me teaching is a job for life. Or more precise it is my life.
Not everyone can be a good teacher, teaching is art and it is continuous process. Teacher plays most vital role in student’s life. Proficiency and teaching skills should be more practical than theory based. Teacher should encourage and bring out inner potential of students, also look out each student’s strength and weakness and should thoroughly enhance and motivate students.
