I'm using HEC RAS 6.2 (March 2022) and simulating a flood wave in 2d and unsteady. My simulations get this error when I try to run them. Does someone know the reason and how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
Are you running steady or unsteady flow? In steady flow, there is no timestep. For unsteady flow there is a default time step, which I believe is 1 hour. You can adjust that time step in the Unsteady Flow Analysis window (source: from a forum).
in Unsteady Flow Analysis window it is written ¨Computation Interval¨, and I was looking for ¨Time Step".
when creating the mesh and ask for a 10m x 10m grid the computer/software gets stuck and gives an error (Error generating Points). On the other hand, the possibility of using the underlying terrain information (elevation-volume relationships and XS´s on cell faces) during computations will be awsome. A channel smaller than the grid size can cross these larger cells, probably because the flood mapping in RAS
I think it is the error related to the stabilization of the unsteady flow. Just go to https://forum.kleinschmidtgroup.com/ras-post/stabilizing-a-dynamic-unsteady-hec-ras-model/ you will get the procedure.
Thanks everyone for your answers. I tried the simulation with the oldest Version of HEC RAS (6.1 Version) and it works again without errors. Moreover, I tried with the examples from HEC RAS and they did not run in the newest version (V6.2). So I reconsidered the change to a new version, until more information is available.
