Use of social media and the internet in general are presumed to aid learning. Therefore in recent times teachers/lecturers have been encouraging each other to facilitate the learning and teaching process through increased use of such. From observations, I am beginning to wonder if these do not constitute major distractions to focused study and academic work in terms of proportional use of time. I suspect social media and the internet are addictive. What do others think?
