Several Socio-demographic characteristics such as age,gender and educational status have been shown to determine knowledge and practices on safe food handling but does residing in urban or rural area also determine an individual knowledge and practices on safe food handling?
Thank you Dr,Amit Kumar for you enormous inputs.I also agree with you that rural residents may have the knowledge and positive attitude to maintain basic hygiene principles but due to lack of supportive structures such as clean piped water or electricity in such environments they are limited to safe food handling procedures.I would like to further comment on the role of gender on food safety,A factor like education is correlated to knowledge and practices on safe food handling,consequently women are more involved in food preparation at home and as numbers tell us,more men than women attiain high education levels,cant there be a risk of low knowledge on food safety by women who prepare foods at home?
