You ask the folowing: Is Post-Doc more education or another degree or a simple research job?
As I see it, a Post.Doc is not an academic degree. In most universities. Post- Docs
are a step for one to become an Assistant professor. When one takes a Post-Doc one performs supervised research, and one is paid for that. So, a post-doc means more education. Of course, if we do not want to follow an academic career, we can choose a job outside the university. From my experience , most of the post.doc's students want to pursue an academic career such that they can become Assitant professors, Assosciate professors and Full professors.

I believe Post-Doc is not a degree after getting the PhD. It depends on a funding opportunity for post-doc research. A postdoctoral scholar is PhD holder who is engaged in mentored research or scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing.
