In my experiment (watch the video here: https://youtu.be/XGEv9RGrvNY), I use a homemade split-cell that simply consists of a plastic container with a clay pot in it. This cell allows me to electrolyze a solution of Epsom salt (MgSO4) and turn it in copper sulfate (CuSO4) and magnesium hydroxide (MgOH), using two copper electrodes. Now, the separation between the two products is not perfect, some of the MgOH leaks into the CuSO4. I purify the CuSO4 by cristalization.

My question is whether it is possible or not to use a better separating membrane that would allow the two products to be pure?
