Dear colleagues,

Now that the newest version of Maxent has been released (http://biodiversityinformatics.amnh.org/open_source/maxent/ ), together with an R package (i.e., maxnet), I am considering using it for a new, large project that I am leading concerning habitat suitability of multiple species.

However, I have read (in the Maxent's google group: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/Maxent ) that important differences have been found regarding the predictions generated by the widely-used, previous version of Maxent (ver. 3.3) and the current (just-released) version of Maxent (ver. 3.4).

I would like to hear from experienced users (1) if they have used Maxent 3.4 and found it to produce reasonable outputs; (2) if they consider that transitioning to Maxent 3.4 right away is advisable—particularly for using it as one of the main modeling tools for a new, large project—or, alternatively, if working with Maxent ver. 3.3 for an additional year (or so) would be a more advisable option (while Maxent 3.4 becomes fully tested).

Thank you in anticipation for your comments.
