I would like to learn about any commercially available noise radars, either currently in use or from the past, and the extent of their use. As an outsider to the radar community, it is sometimes difficult to determine what concepts have proven to be useful in practice and what concepts simply appeal to theorists.
There are such things as jammers, some of which are noise jammers. They are used as radar countermeasures to confuse enemy radars.
Thanks for the response. I'm thinking a jammer is much easier to implement, since you don't really design a receiver for it. You don't need a correlator or matched filter.
I'd really like to see an architecture of a true radar based on noise waveforms that is used outside of academic studies.
A non-cooperative bistatic radar would use a quasi-noise waveform. For instance, a digital TV waveform from a distant transmitter site.
