Nowadays, most of the top institutes/ universities want a minimum requirement of publications to get a PhD degree (For Eg: Minimum 2 SCI journals). Additionally, having ample publications are very relevant for further studies or job aspects.
@ Dr. Shekhar, so that most of the student wants their PhD without quality of work if they need publication they only focus on publication not good work.
PhD degree is also awarded based on the patents. If nothing, what is the criteria should be followed to award the degree? There should be some threshold or criteria to judge the work done by the researchers. In my point of view, publication or patent is necessary for PhD.
The minimum criterion is to get a Ph.D. degree, maybe the publications. But publications do not reflect whether a good work ( valuable in terms of societal needs) has been done or not ...
Niroj Paudel, this is mandatory to reflect your belief, thought, views, perspective to the larger reader in the academia. In doing so, will be benefited by strengthening your skill, knowledge and perspective. Receiving a PhD award is not limited to academic but more than that.
Niroj Dahal @ I wants quality of work during the PhD. if we do quality of work that means your research work is impactful . otherwise just the student wants to achive PhD without work just publish Paper and get degree. Now a days Publication is like as business not research even can i ask the research is business?
