I’m trying to screen for ECM components that would enhance insulin secretion. Right now I’m trying to find a beta cell line that would allow me to familiarize with some experimental techniques like GSIS.

Hello Shek Chan,

Both cells are good for GSIS, but it has been observed previously that high passage MIN6 might have poor insulin secretion. Please see PLoS One 2012;7(7):e40868. doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0040868

INS-1 is arguable better since it can be cultured at a 5mM glc condition.

Some sublines of INS-1 cells have better GSIS response than others.
