In fact, I need to use agglomerated particles for a flotation test. But, already collectors have been attached on the surface of particles. I don't if I use ultrasonic for separation of agglomerated particles, it may detach collector from their surface?

Thanks a lot, But using collector or agglomeration is out of matter for me. I already utilized collector in order to prepare particles for flotation, agglomeration occurs due to compacting of particle. I just have 5 g sample which has been compacted influencing previously done-preparation. My problem is to separate these agglomerated particles without detachment of collectors. I suppose ultrasonic may be effective, but I am concerned about its side-effect on the collector-particle attachment.
Ultrasonic agitation will certainly disperse nanoparticles that are agglomerated without any surface treatment.
As for particles with a collector adsorbed onto the surface, I doubt that it would detach the collector chemicals from the surface, especially if the collector is chemisorbed onto the surface, as the attachment in this case is very strong.
Do you know the nature of the adsorption? Is it physical or chemical adsorption?
This might be enough to guide you.
it depend on the nature of bond between attachment(collector for u) and particles surface as said by above RG fellow. And it also depend on time and frequency of ultrasonication. Chemical bond may also break due to high frequency of sonication. I think you have to optimize the time so that it is not detaching. physically adsorbed chemical species will easily get detached in ultrasonication.
