Is Scherrer's formula applicable to use for thin film X-RD results? If anybody knows or if somebody has theoretical details regarding physical relationship between the formula and crystal parameters, please let me know,
Hi, in principle yes, however, there is a form factor (default for round crystallites) that may need changing for non-isotropic conditions, i.e. if your crystallites are either very elongated (often the case in textured thin films) or if the film is so thin it cuts them off so they do not have developed equilibrium shape.
