Is it possible to use Glucose free Neurobasal Media instead of DMEM during an Oxygen Glucose Deprivation Experiment?

I am optimizing an OGD protocol and ive found desired results when using the Glucose Free Neurobasal as the medium of choice when running the injury. Ive also seen similar results using DMEM however the effects of the experiment are not as pronounced. I havent seen any articles that utilize glucose free neurobasal medium when injuring primary rat cortical cells with an OGD and I'm wondering if there is an unpublished reason for this? Thank you!
