I would like to know whether it is possible to rescue tissue from paraffin embedding, so that it could be dissected and used for RNA extraction. If so, could somebody recommend a protocol for this? If not, it would be good to confirm that it isn't an option.

At present, there is tissue banked in paraffin embedding which I would like to use for PCR and/or RNA seq. It would be difficult to breed these mice again, so ideally I could make use of the paraffin-embedded tissue.

If someone can recommend a protocol, or have done this themselves, I would greatly appreciate your help. Furthermore, has anyone compared RNA quality and/or gene expression patterns from 'fresh' versus 'parrafin-rescued' tissue?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Shane.
