Is it possible to rear Thitarodes (Hepialus) in laboratory.
Yes, breeding Thitarodes should not be more of a challenge than most other Hepialids. So far as the life history is known, there are no special requirements besides a hitherto unknown larval host root.
These samples were collected from Himachal Pradesh, India in Nov 2015. Photographs are also compiled in the attached pdf file. there were holes in the apple fruits and seeds were eaten by the larva.
