I am new to the analysis of sun shape/CSR (circum-Solar radiation) using photometry. I have a camera i.e. Canon EOS T3. Is it possible to correlate the pixel value of non-saturated sun image (with ND filters on) with the relative intensity across sun disk in RAW format? Will this be linear or I need to find some sort of calibration prior to proceed?

The whole CSR picture, from sun center to a few degrees out, would require many orders of magnitude of dynamic range. Hence, you would need to take a number of pictures a few milliseconds apart and process with some HDR software. Not easy if you have to add/remove ND filters, though. I think an industrial camera would be better.
