I need to do EBSD anyways on the etched samples, because of other purposes we have in the project.

Dear Volker, I tried the etchants in your link for austenite grain and segragation (# PD327 to PD329), and followed the instructions mentioned. But not a real result!

Prior austenite grain boundaries in steels might be a bit easier to observe using etching. But in cast iron, since the solidification mechanism is a bit different, it is not that easy to observe the austenite grain boundaries before eutectic transformation...
