Is it possible to measure vascular barrier permeability assay without Trans-well plate?

I have to do culture every day with mouse endothelial cells. But trans-well plate (with hanging insert) is very expensive. Is it possible to measure intercellular (tight junction) barrier permeabity assay in normal plate having no insert?

Might be able to use cell sieves/strainers if the pore size is right.
