My target compound is a mixture of three compounds but it is about 80% pure (goal compound). The other two compounds in this mixture are minor. Is it possible to identify my target compound through NMR? My compound is not 100% pure.
It depends on type of your compound but it should be possible. NMR spectroscopy gives you plenty of great experiments helping to elucidate structural information. First of all you should measure simple 1D spectrum and check if you have resonance signals well separated or strongly overlapped. You mentioned that your target compound is the dominating one in the mixture, therefore probably you will see it quite well and you will get information about multiplicity of signals (doublets, triplets, etc.). Next I recommend you to try some 2D correlation experiments like: 1H-1H COSY, 1H-1H TOCSY and 13C-1H HSQC.
