first of all I should apologize for this low level question and then:
when we say Nucleic acid ,could we contain histones in this structure? if we could, for the answere of the first question,we can say at histone parts of DNA it is neutral .
It is incorrect to say that histones are part of nucleic acids. Histones are proteins DNA is made of nucleic acids. If you imagine a spool of thread, the DNA is like the thread and the histone is like the spool. It is quite possible to have DNA not associated with a histone. In fact, in the laboratory we isolate DNA from protein all the time.
I agree with Ms. Michelle's answer. Histones are not the part of nucleic acid. Besides they are just DNA packaging proteins. Even RNA (that is also a nucleic acid) is not bound to histones. The overall acidic nature of nucleic acids is due to phosphate backbone. So histones have nothing to do with the nature of nucleic acids.
Yes, they are two different things. Histones are proteins, while DNA is nucleic acid. You can say histones are part of a nucleosome that contains an octamer of two molecules each of the four core histones with DNA wrapped round the histone octamer.
