Dear researchers:

Few days ago, one of my previous students detected the ciliophoran Trichodina urinaria Dogiel, 1940 from gills of the mugilid fish Planiliza abu (Heckel, 1843) which was sampled from Tigris River at Baghdad city. Is it possible to consider the gills as a normal site of infection although this ciliophoran is known to infect the urinary bladder and ureter of some freshwater fishes?

Best regards.
