After getting a minor revision, a revised version of manuscript was submitted three months ago to a reputed journal. The status changed to " Editor Assigned" after two days. The status date changed several times, but the status remained "Editor Assigned". Since then the manuscript status has been same.
I'm wondering what can that possibly indicate. Really appreciate some advice and clarification on this.

In simple terms, it means that the paper is being handled by an editor. This generally happens when someone submitted a new paper to the journal.
If the date changed probably the status also changed but we did not noticed particularly if the time frame from the first date and the last one is long enough for reviews to be completed. Editor assigned appears after submission and after reviews are completed.

Thankx for responding Alain. I can assure you thats the case of not noticing is not there. My best guess is that may be the paper is been handled by the main Editor as of now after receiving recommendations from reviewer's
it means the journal company assigned an editor for peer reviewing your article. after reviewing your paper it will send to reviewers
