just curious if i can do multilayer PCB layout using ADS software. take note that my schematic is done in ADS. im using ADS to auto generate layout. can it generate multi layer PCB layout. i want DC to be in different layer and RF. thanks
I think it's possible (I've not tried it myself). Try this. In the schematic, group two sets of components, one using cond1 layer, the other using a different layer, perhaps cond2. Then try auto generate.
If it does not work, then you should try autogenerate one layer first, lock it in layout, and autogenerate the next one, or a combination of that workflow.
You should use via components to link between layers, so that autogenerate can figure out the placements.
If you are doing RF layout (which also includes things like USB 2+ and Ethernet 100+ in terms of impedance matching) I would find it unlikely that one could do the whole thing using automatic tool generation.
What is the actual application - and what is your definition of RF?
Yes that is correct. You need to specify the conductive layers that the via connects to. I've included one reference link, there are many others describing via connections in ADS.
